"Every Friday night, as the sun sets and the sunlight is not a threat anymore, we enter in the writing room, open the curtains and windows wide to let the moonlight in. With the perfect background soundtrack given by owls hooting and crickets chirping, we make ourselves comfortable, me at the piano and Eve on the sofa. As we’re getting more and more inebriated with natural and artificial pleasures, my melancholic minor chords are striking loud, bouncing wall to wall and echoing around the room, while virgin white papers get quickly impregnated with black ink from Eve’s poignant, raw, intimate, and bittersweet poems. It goes on and on: the higher we get, the louder it gets, and song after song, poem after poem, the hours fly when, with a snap of the fingers, the night comes to an end. The birds start singing again, while the newborn, shy sunbeams are knocking at the windows, almost as if they’re giving us a polite warning to give us enough time to leave the room. As everybody is waking up to start their day, we can finally go to rest."

THE GOTHIC PERIOD

This trilogy represents the beginning, the end, and the aftermath of a love story. The main character, though never shown, is a vampire who lives in a luxurious gothic palace, which he shared for a short time with his girlfriend, also a vampire, before she parted ways with him. “The Writing Room” represents the beginning of their relationship: they happily spend their weekends creating, writing, playing music, composing poems, drawing, and getting inebriated on wine. “The Bathroom” depicts the end of their relationship: she has just left him, and he bathes in blood, overwhelmed by dark thoughts. After centuries of life, he begins to fantasise about falling asleep forever.

“To Be In Love” also explores the aftermath of their relationship: a bittersweet realization leads him to understand that, even if love can fade and cause him pain, he will likely fall in love again, regardless of the consequences.

Like buying a fresh bouquet of flowers after the previous one has withered, he continues the cycle, even as it leads him toward his own undoing.

"A couple of times a month, I allow myself a little treat. One of the very few things

I still enjoy about living here is taking a blood bath. To help you understand, imagine how you humans might feel taking a bath in melted chocolate; it would feel incredibly pleasant, right? I have a dear doctor friend, whom I pay very well, who can provide the amount of blood I need. It only comes from young virgins;

if it came from adults, in that quantity, it would make me very sick, because of all the garbage you humans eat and the substances you take, with your unhealthy lifestyles. As I bathe and sip the blood, I can feel my body relax, and I enter a state of ecstatic pleasure. But it doesn’t last long; soon, I fall into a rabbit hole of intrusive, bitter thoughts. I think about how I’ve been alive for more than three hundred years, and if immortality once seemed like a gift, now it feels more like torture, a punishment. I’ve seen so many people, family and lovers, come and go. In the end, I’m always the one who stays, alone. And even though I prefer solitude over company, riding the highs and lows for centuries has taken a serious toll on my stability. As I keep sipping the blood, overwhelmed by nefarious thoughts,

I fantasise about bathing in my own blood instead, drained from my wrists until the last drop, so I could finally find peace. But then, as the inebriating effect of the blood fades and reality sets in, I get up, wash myself, step out of the bathtub, and get ready to live another day, as I will, for eternity."

"Once in a while I buy a beautiful flower bouquet, cut the bottoms of each stem,

and then arrange them gracefully in a fancy vase with fresh water and flower food. God, they look beautiful… The flowers are so colourful, young blooms on stiff stems, and fragrant scent. I want to see them thriving; I change their water every day, giving  them nutrients to keep them alive and strong. For days, with their beauty, they make me happy and give me back the same love and care I’m giving to them.

But then the stems start to get weaker, the colours start to lose their brightness,

and the lovely scent gives way to a mouldy, almost rotten smell.

From that moment, day after day, I watch them mercilessly decay, so fast, regardless of how much I try to save them. There’s nothing I can do to keep them alive.

Isn’t this what to be in love is like, after all?

So I wonder..

Will I ever buy a new bouquet again? Probably.

Will I regret it at the end? Most likely.

Dopo i fiori piantati, quelli raccolti, quelli regalati, quelli appassiti;

ho deciso di perdermi nel mondo, anche se sprofondo.

Lascio che le cose mi portino altrove, non importa dove."

THE PINK PERIOD

An alien from a faraway planet called Restlessland crash-lands on Earth and, bad news, there’s no return ticket. So he does what any sensible extraterrestrial would do: he moves to Hackney, London, where, frankly, nobody finds him unusual. Blending in is surprisingly easy. He makes friends, hits the clubs every weekend, and dives headfirst into human life. He dates around, falls in love once and then (always dramatically, of course), and enthusiastically tries all the things humans seem to enjoy, some of which he still doesn’t fully understand. After traveling across galaxies and light-years, he finally finds something unexpected in East London: a social life, a hangover, and the strange but comforting feeling that he actually belongs.

PRESS REVIEWS

“Paintings of remarkable depth and color that reflect the character of the artist, who, from childhood, showed the traits of someone destined to show the world that life,

despite everything, can still be full of color."

(Marco’s Mother)

“His imagination has been by his side since childhood. He has always applied his creativity to every aspect of life: sports, hobbies, and leisure activities alike.

Everything he has touched has been transformed into art, and he continues to do so to this day.

One of the results is a collection of truly remarkable paintings.”

(Marco’s Father)

“Intriguing and reserved, he may seem almost mysterious and ambiguous at first, but the moment he picks up the brush and begins to paint, an entire world comes to life.

Color, magic, wonder, and extraordinary detail...that's my bro.”

(Marco’s Sister)
